Eating Disorders Awareness Week
It's National Eating Disorders Awareness Week.
A study published last year found that the rate of eating disorders had increased dramatically from 3.5% to 8% from 2000 to 2018. What's even more terrifying is that this data doesn't include sub-clinical disordered eating.
I actually never intended to be an eating disorders dietitian, but when I opened the door to my private practice back in 2009, I realized that nearly EVERY individual to walk through my door struggled with food. Now, with newfound awareness and years of experience and advanced training to guide my work with clients, I am more passionate than ever in my desire to help clients heal their relationships with food and their bodies.
If you or someone you know has an eating disorder and need help, call the National Eating Disorders Association helpline at 1-800-931-2237, text 741741, or chat online with a Helpline volunteer at nationaleatingdisorders.org.
